• Irradiated kernels mainly consisted of UO 2 and UC(O 0.0x ) phases. • Zr, Nb, Mo, Ru, Tc concentrate in uranium carbide phase. • Fission gas bubbles stay in uranium carbide phase. • Excess Mo, Ru, Tc form U(Mo, Tc)C 2 or URuC 2 , and Nb forms oxide shell at pore surface.
