Experimental Study of Overwash
Coastal Sediments '07. Presented at the Sixth International Symposium on Coastal Engineering and Science of Coastal Sediment Process.
Event: Sixth International Symposium on Coastal Engineering and Science of Coastal Sediment Process
Overwash induced by storm conditions is one mechanism causing coastline change with cross-shore erosion and deposition. Many field studies have been conducted but laboratory experiments are few. This experimental study was conducted for estimation of eroded sand volume by overwash. The experiments were conducted at two different wave heights and four different wave periods in two different slopes of beach face for regular and irregular waves. The experiments were done in a 2D wave tank on mid-scale at Texas A&M University. The measured data from 32 different tests were used to analyze the characteristics of overwash.
