The synthesis of series of 1,3-dihydro-3-methyl-3-phenyl-1,2-benziodoxoles, 7, containing chloro, tosyloxy, acetoxy, trifluoroacetoxy and azido ligands and the optical resolution of 2-iodo-α-methylbenzhydrol, the starting material for the synthesis of 7, are reported.
