Drought-deciduous behavior reduces nutrient losses from temperate deciduous trees under severe drought

OECOLOGIA, 163(4), 845–854.

By: R. Marchin n, H. Zeng n & W. Hoffmann n

author keywords: Nutrient resorption; Leaf senescence; Temperate forest; Desiccation; Nitrogen
MeSH headings : Calcium / metabolism; Droughts; Magnoliopsida / physiology; Nitrogen / metabolism; North Carolina; Phosphorus / metabolism; Plant Leaves / physiology; Potassium / metabolism; Species Specificity; Trees / physiology; Water / physiology
TL;DR: The lower seasonal nutrient losses of drought-deciduous species may give them a competitive advantage over drought-evergreen species in the years following the drought, thereby impacting species composition in temperate deciduous forests in the future. (via Semantic Scholar)

Planta, 229(1), 37–51.

By: L. Zhou n, H. Zeng n, M. Shi n & D. Xie n

author keywords: Anthocyanin; Callus; HPLC-mass spectrum; Metabolic profiling; Nicotiana tabacum; PAP1; Tobacco; Transgene
MeSH headings : 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid / pharmacology; Anthocyanins / biosynthesis; Anthocyanins / chemistry; Arabidopsis / drug effects; Arabidopsis / metabolism; Arabidopsis / radiation effects; Arabidopsis Proteins; Chromatography, High Pressure Liquid; Chromatography, Liquid; Indoleacetic Acids / pharmacology; Light; Mass Spectrometry; Nitrates / pharmacology; Pancreatitis-Associated Proteins; Plants, Genetically Modified; Potassium Compounds / pharmacology; Tissue Culture Techniques; Tobacco / cytology; Tobacco / drug effects; Tobacco / genetics; Tobacco / growth & development; Transcription Factors / metabolism
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that dark, nitrogen nutrients, and auxin apparently affect the anthocyanin profiles in PAP1 transgenic callus cultures; and it is suggested that these cell cultures are an appropriate system to study the regulatory function of P AP1 on the anthOCyanin biosynthesis at post-transcriptional level in vivo.
