ARCHIVES OF BIOCHEMISTRY AND BIOPHYSICS, 347(1), 9–18.

By: J. Falls n, N. Cherrington n, K. Clements n, R. Philpot*, P. Levi n, R. Rose n, E. Hodgson n

author keywords: flavin-containing monooxygenase 3; FMO3; FMO3 sequence; FMO3 expression
MeSH headings : Amino Acid Sequence; Animals; Base Sequence; Catalysis; Cloning, Molecular; Electrophoresis, Polyacrylamide Gel; Enzyme Inhibitors / pharmacology; Enzyme Stability; Escherichia coli / genetics; Female; Gene Expression; Humans; Hydrogen-Ion Concentration; Liver / enzymology; Male; Methimazole / metabolism; Mice; Molecular Sequence Data; Oxygenases / chemistry; Oxygenases / genetics; Oxygenases / metabolism; RNA, Messenger / analysis; Recombinant Proteins / chemistry; Recombinant Proteins / metabolism; Sequence Analysis, DNA; Sequence Homology, Amino Acid
TL;DR: The sequence of mouse flavin-containing monooxygenase 3 (FMO3) was obtained from several clones isolated from a mouse liver cDNA library and results of immunoblotting confirmed the tissue- and gender-dependent expression of mouse FMO3. (via Semantic Scholar)

Regulation of mouse liver flavin-containing monooxygenases 1 and 3 by sex steroids

Falls, J. G., Ryu, D. Y., Cao, Y., Levi, P. E., & Hodgson, E. (1997, June 15). ARCHIVES OF BIOCHEMISTRY AND BIOPHYSICS, Vol. 342, pp. 212–223.

By: J. Falls n, D. Ryu n, Y. Cao n, P. Levi n & E. Hodgson n

author keywords: flavin-containing monooxygenases; FM01; FM03; FM05; FMO expression; hormonal regulation; testosterone; 17 beta-estradiol; progesterone
MeSH headings : Animals; Blotting, Western; Castration; Estradiol / blood; Estradiol / pharmacology; Female; Gene Expression Regulation, Enzymologic; Isoenzymes / metabolism; Liver / drug effects; Liver / enzymology; Male; Mice; Mice, Inbred Strains; Microsomes, Liver / metabolism; Organ Size / drug effects; Ovariectomy; Oxygenases / metabolism; Progesterone / blood; Progesterone / pharmacology; RNA, Messenger / metabolism; Seminal Vesicles / drug effects; Testosterone / blood; Testosterone / pharmacology; Uterus / drug effects
TL;DR: In males and females, F MO5 levels were unaffected by gonadectomy or hormone administration, thus indicating a sex hormone-independent mechanism of regulation for this isoform, and Interestingly, FMO1 protein levels were increased in sexually intact males following treatment with 17 beta-estradiol; however, only a slight increase in FMO3 protein level was observed.
