CHANGES DURING EARLY SOYBEAN SEED AND AXES DETERIORATION .1. SEED QUALITY AND MITOCHONDRIAL RESPIRATION

CROP SCIENCE, 30(1), 175–179.

By: J. Ferguson n, D. Tekrony n & D. Egli*

TL;DR: Investigation of the changes that occur in mitochondria! respiration during the early stages of soybean seed deterioration found decreases in ST 3 respiration rates and RCR in both cultivars preceded measurable declines in whole-seed vigor and correlated with increases in the conductivity of axes leachate. CHANGES DURING EARLY SOYBEAN SEED AND AXES DETERIORATION .2. LIPIDS

CROP SCIENCE, 30(1), 179–182.

By: J. Ferguson n, D. Tekrony n & D. Egli*

TL;DR: This study conducted to determine the fatty-acid composition of soybean seeds, axes, and mitochondria during the early stages of deterioration found high-quality seed lots of «Union» and «Desoto» soybean stored at 25 o C and 115 g kg −1 seed moisture for 10 and 12 months, respectively.
