Preparations from these larvae were analysed for their content of acid mucopolysaccharides (MPS). Numbers of MPS were detected in these preparations and were found to elute in chromatographic patterns that were similar to those shown for authentic MPS standards. Although the MPS appeared to be present at all stages of larval development, the first three days post-hatch were observed to be the most active period for MPS synthesis. Using histochemical and autoradiographic techniques these MPS were found to be present in a variety of organ and tissue sections.}, number={11}, journal={INSECT BIOCHEMISTRY}, author={SHARIEF, FS and PERDUE, JM and DOBROGOSZ, WJ}, year={1973}, pages={243–262} }
