SEPARATION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF GALACTOSE-1-PHOSPHATE AND GLUCOSE-1-PHOSPHATE URIDYLTRANSFERASE FROM FRUIT PEDUNCLES OF CUCUMBER

PLANTA, 153(4), 370–375.

By: E. Smart n & D. Pharr n

TL;DR: C cucumber may have a Gal-1-P uridyltransferase (pyrophosphorylase) pathway for the catabolism of stachyose in the peduncles, indicating that modulation of carbon partitioning through a uridYLtransferase pathway may be a factor controlling growth of the cucumber fruit. (via Semantic Scholar)

CHARACTERIZATION OF ALPHA-GALACTOSIDASE FROM CUCUMBER LEAVES

PLANT PHYSIOLOGY, 66(4), 731–734.

By: E. Smart n & D. Pharr

TL;DR: Two forms of α-galactosidase which differed in molecular weight were resolved from Cucumis sativus L.C. leaves and both enzymes were inhibited by galactose as well as by excess concentrations of p -nitrophenyl-α-d-Galactoside sub-strate. (via Semantic Scholar)
