JOURNAL OF VETERINARY INTERNAL MEDICINE, 23(5), 1003–1006.
author keywords: Furosemide; Heart failure; Inodilator; Pimobendan; Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system
MeSH headings : Aldosterone / urine; Animals; Blood Urea Nitrogen; Chlorides / blood; Cross-Over Studies; Dogs / blood; Dogs / urine; Female; Furosemide / pharmacology; Male; Phosphorus / blood; Potassium / blood; Pyridazines / pharmacology; Renin-Angiotensin System / drug effects; Sodium / blood; Sodium Potassium Chloride Symporter Inhibitors / pharmacology; Vasodilator Agents / pharmacology
TL;DR:
It is suggested that furosemide therapy, with or without pimobendan, should be accompanied by RAAS suppressive therapy, and short-term administration of high-dose pimobendedan, does not activate the RAAS in healthy dogs.
