2004 journal article

In vitro sulfoxidation of thioether compounds by human cytochrome P450 and flavin-containing monooxygenase isoforms with particular reference to the CYP2C subfamily

DRUG METABOLISM AND DISPOSITION, 32(3), 333–339.

By: K. Usmani n, E. Karoly*, E. Hodgson* & R. Rose*

MeSH headings : Aryl Hydrocarbon Hydroxylases / antagonists & inhibitors; Catalysis; Chromatography, High Pressure Liquid; Cytochrome P-450 CYP2C19; Cytochrome P-450 CYP2C9; Cytochrome P-450 Enzyme System / metabolism; Enzyme Inhibitors / pharmacology; Humans; In Vitro Techniques; Isoenzymes / metabolism; Microsomes, Liver / drug effects; Microsomes, Liver / enzymology; Mixed Function Oxygenases / antagonists & inhibitors; Monoamine Oxidase / metabolism; Spectrophotometry, Ultraviolet; Structure-Activity Relationship; Sulfaphenazole / pharmacology; Sulfides / metabolism; Sulfoxides / metabolism; Ticlopidine / pharmacology
TL;DR: The results indicate that current models of the substrate binding site of the CYP2C subfamily would not effectively predict thioether pesticide metabolism, and the substrate specificity of CYP 2Cs is more extensive than is currently believed, and some reevaluation of structure-activity relationships may be required. 2001 journal article

Sequencing, expression, and characterization of cDNA expressed flavin-containing monooxygenase 2 from mouse

JOURNAL OF BIOCHEMICAL AND MOLECULAR TOXICOLOGY, 15(6), 300–308.

By: E. Karoly n & R. Rose n

author keywords: FMO2; sequence; characterization; expression; mouse
MeSH headings : Amino Acid Sequence; Animals; Base Sequence; Catalysis; Cloning, Molecular; DNA, Complementary; Escherichia coli / genetics; Expressed Sequence Tags; Humans; Mice; Molecular Sequence Data; NADP / metabolism; Oxidation-Reduction; Oxygenases / chemistry; Oxygenases / genetics; Oxygenases / metabolism; Sequence Homology, Amino Acid; Substrate Specificity
TL;DR: The cDNA clone of mouse flavin‐containing monooxygenase 2 (FMO2) was obtained as an expressed sequence tag (EST) isolated from a female mouse kidney cDNA library from the I.M.A.G.E. consortium, and the expressed FMO2 enzyme showed catalytic activity towards the FMO substrate methimazole. Monooxygenase, esterase, and glutathione transferase activity associated with azinphosmethyl resistance in the tufted apple bud moth, Platynota idaeusalis

PESTICIDE BIOCHEMISTRY AND PHYSIOLOGY, 55(2), 109–121.

By: E. Karoly n, R. Rose n, D. Thompson n, E. Hodgson n, G. Rock n & R. Roe n

TL;DR: It appears that multiple hydrolases are the primary metabolic factor in azinphosmethyl resistance in the tufted apple bud moth. (via Semantic Scholar)
