Interferon regulatory factor-1, interferon-beta, and reovirus-induced myocarditis

VIROLOGY, 298(1), 20–29.

By: K. Azzam-Smoak n, D. Noah n, M. Stewart n, M. Blum n & B. Sherry n

author keywords: reovirus; double-stranded RNA (dsRNA); viral myocarditis; cardiac myocytes; interferon (IFN); interferon regulatory factor (IRF)
MeSH headings : Animals; Animals, Newborn; Cells, Cultured; DNA-Binding Proteins / biosynthesis; DNA-Binding Proteins / deficiency; DNA-Binding Proteins / genetics; Female; Heart / virology; Interferon Regulatory Factor-1; Interferon-beta / biosynthesis; Interferon-beta / genetics; Male; Mice; Mice, Inbred C57BL; Mice, Knockout; Myocardium / metabolism; Myocardium / pathology; Phosphoproteins / biosynthesis; Phosphoproteins / deficiency; Phosphoproteins / genetics; Reoviridae / pathogenicity; Viral Proteins / biosynthesis; Viral Proteins / genetics
TL;DR: Surprisingly, it is found that reovirus failed to induce IRF-1 in the absence of the IFN-alpha/beta response, providing the first evidence that viruses may not induce IRf-1 directly. (via Semantic Scholar)
