By: B. Licht*, S. Lin, Y. Luo, L. Hyson, M. Licht, K. Harper, S. Sullivan*, S. Fernandez, E. Johnston

MeSH headings : Animals; Breeding; Dog Diseases / genetics; Dogs; Female; Genes, Recessive; Genetic Linkage; Genetic Predisposition to Disease; Male; Pedigree; Seizures / genetics; Seizures / veterinary
TL;DR: Results suggested that in this family of Standard Poodles, PIE was inherited as a simple recessive autosomal trait with complete or almost complete penetrance. (via Semantic Scholar)

Value of a single-shot turbo spin-echo pulse sequence for assessing the architecture of the subarachnoid space and the constitutive nature of cerebrospinal fluid

VETERINARY RADIOLOGY & ULTRASOUND, 47(3), 254–259.

By: A. Pease n, S. Sullivan n, N. Olby n, H. Galano n, S. Cerda-Gonzalez n, I. Robertson n, P. Gavin*, D. Thrall n

author keywords: cervical; half-Fourier acquisition single-shot turbo spin echo; magnetic resonance imaging; myelogram; shot turbo spin echo
MeSH headings : Animals; Cat Diseases / cerebrospinal fluid; Cat Diseases / pathology; Cats; Diagnosis, Differential; Dog Diseases / cerebrospinal fluid; Dog Diseases / pathology; Dogs; Encephalitis / complications; Encephalitis / pathology; Encephalitis / veterinary; Female; Lameness, Animal / etiology; Lumbar Vertebrae / pathology; Lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin / complications; Lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin / pathology; Lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin / veterinary; Magnetic Resonance Imaging / methods; Magnetic Resonance Imaging / veterinary; Male; Spinal Cord Neoplasms / complications; Spinal Cord Neoplasms / pathology; Spinal Cord Neoplasms / veterinary; Subarachnoid Space / pathology
TL;DR: Although the resolution of the single-shot turbo spin-echo pulse sequence images is relatively poor compared with more conventional sequences, the qualitative information about the subarachnoid space and cerebrospinal fluid and the rapid acquisition time, make it a useful sequence to include in standard protocols of spinal magnetic resonance imaging. Lobar holoprosencephaly in a Miniature Schnauzer with hypodipsic hypernatremia

JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN VETERINARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, 223(12), 1783–1787.

By: S. Sullivan*, B. Harmon, P. Purinton, C. Greene & L. Glerum

MeSH headings : Animals; Dehydration / etiology; Dehydration / veterinary; Dog Diseases / etiology; Dog Diseases / genetics; Dog Diseases / pathology; Dogs; Euthanasia, Animal; Holoprosencephaly / complications; Holoprosencephaly / genetics; Holoprosencephaly / pathology; Holoprosencephaly / veterinary; Hypernatremia / etiology; Hypernatremia / veterinary; Male; Thirst
TL;DR: A 9-month-old male Miniature Schnauzer was examined because of a lifelong history of behavioral abnormalities, including hypodipsia, which revealed marked hypernatremia and a single forebrain ventricle, and foundings were diagnostic for holoprosencephaly, a potentially genetic disorder and the likely cause of the hypodIPSia.
