Quantitative model of Ras-phosphoinositide 3-kinase signalling cross-talk based on co-operative molecular assembly

BIOCHEMICAL JOURNAL, 393(1), 235–243.

By: H. Kaur n, C. Park n, J. Lewis n & J. Haugh n

author keywords: mathematical modelling; phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K); platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF); Ras; receptor tyrosine kinase; signal transduction
MeSH headings : Animals; Mice; Models, Biological; NIH 3T3 Cells; Phosphatidylinositol 3-Kinases / metabolism; Proto-Oncogene Proteins c-akt / metabolism; Receptors, Platelet-Derived Growth Factor / metabolism; Signal Transduction; ras GTPase-Activating Proteins / metabolism
TL;DR: Experiments with platelet-derived growth factor-stimulated fibroblasts revealed that Ras apparently enhances the affinity of PI3K for receptors, which suggests that a ternary complex does indeed form, with the second step greatly enhanced through membrane localization and possibly allosteric effects. DEVELOPMENTAL AND COMPARATIVE IMMUNOLOGY, 28(6), 571–579.

By: H. Kaur n, L. Jaso-Friedmann* & D. Evans*

author keywords: nonspecific cytotoxic cells; single base oligos; oligodeoxyguanosine; soluble Fas ligand; Fas receptor; programmed cell death; annexin-V; DNA hypoploidy
MeSH headings : Animals; Apoptosis / immunology; Catfishes / immunology; Cytotoxicity, Immunologic / immunology; DNA Fragmentation / immunology; DNA, Bacterial / genetics; DNA, Bacterial / immunology; DNA, Bacterial / physiology; Deoxyguanosine / immunology; Fas Ligand Protein; Female; HL-60 Cells; Humans; K562 Cells; Male; Membrane Glycoproteins / biosynthesis; Membrane Glycoproteins / immunology; Membrane Glycoproteins / metabolism; Oligonucleotides / immunology; Up-Regulation; fas Receptor / immunology
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that an NK like cell (NCC) produces and secretes sFasL following binding by single base oligodeoxyguanosine. (via Semantic Scholar)
