Comparison of diffraction-enhanced computed tomography and monochromatic synchrotron radiation computed tomography of human trabecular bone

PHYSICS IN MEDICINE AND BIOLOGY, 54(20), 6123–6133.

By: D. Connor n, H. Hallen n, D. Lalush n, D. Sumner* & Z. Zhong*

Event: at UK

MeSH headings : Absorption; Bone and Bones / diagnostic imaging; Bone and Bones / pathology; Equipment Design; Humans; Normal Distribution; Radiographic Image Interpretation, Computer-Assisted / methods; Scattering, Radiation; Silicon; Synchrotrons; Tibia / diagnostic imaging; Tibia / pathology; Tomography, X-Ray Computed / methods; X-Rays
TL;DR: The apparent absorption DECT images have significantly higher spatial resolution and CNR than the corresponding SRCT images, and will prove to be a useful tool for imaging applications in which high contrast and high spatial resolution are required for both soft tissue features and bone.
