Genetic variation in the Myzus persicae complex (Homoptera : Aphididae): Evidence for a single species

ANNALS OF THE ENTOMOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA, 93(1), 31–46.

By: K. Clements n, B. Wiegmann n, C. Sorenson n, C. Smith n, P. Neese n & R. Roe*

author keywords: Myzus nicotianae; Myzus persicae; cytochrome oxidase II; elongation factor-1 alpha (EF-1 alpha)
TL;DR: Results strongly suggest the synonymy of M. persicae and M. nicotianae, previously classified as a single species, is still valid. (via Semantic Scholar)

2000 journal article

Genetic, biochemical, and behavioral uniformity among populations of Myzus nicotianae and Myzus persicae

ENTOMOLOGIA EXPERIMENTALIS ET APPLICATA, 95(3), 269–281.

By: K. Clements n, C. Sorenson n, B. Wiegmann n, P. Neese n & R. Roe n

author keywords: green peach aphid; cuticular hydrocarbons; Myzus nicotianae; Myzus persicae; RAPD-PCR; tobacco; tobacco aphid; Homoptera; Aphididae
TL;DR: Results add to a growing body of evidence suggesting M. nicotianae and M. persicae are conspecific, and with the exception of their responses to a choice between lettuce and collards, the host preference behavior of a green peach aphid population, a red tobacco aphidpopulation, and a green tobacco Aphid population was indistinguishable in host preference experiments. ARCHIVES OF BIOCHEMISTRY AND BIOPHYSICS, 347(1), 9–18.

By: J. Falls n, N. Cherrington, K. Clements n, R. Philpot*, P. Levi n, R. Rose n, E. Hodgson n

author keywords: flavin-containing monooxygenase 3; FMO3; FMO3 sequence; FMO3 expression
MeSH headings : Amino Acid Sequence; Animals; Base Sequence; Catalysis; Cloning, Molecular; Electrophoresis, Polyacrylamide Gel; Enzyme Inhibitors / pharmacology; Enzyme Stability; Escherichia coli / genetics; Female; Gene Expression; Humans; Hydrogen-Ion Concentration; Liver / enzymology; Male; Methimazole / metabolism; Mice; Molecular Sequence Data; Oxygenases / chemistry; Oxygenases / genetics; Oxygenases / metabolism; RNA, Messenger / analysis; Recombinant Proteins / chemistry; Recombinant Proteins / metabolism; Sequence Analysis, DNA; Sequence Homology, Amino Acid
TL;DR: The sequence of mouse flavin-containing monooxygenase 3 (FMO3) was obtained from several clones isolated from a mouse liver cDNA library and results of immunoblotting confirmed the tissue- and gender-dependent expression of mouse FMO3. (via Semantic Scholar)
