Non-woven textiles for medical implants: mechanical performances improvement

Lequeux, A., Maze, B., Laroche, G., & Heim, F. (2022, May 25). BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING-BIOMEDIZINISCHE TECHNIK.

By: A. Lequeux*, B. Maze n, G. Laroche* & F. Heim*

author keywords: electrospun; embroidery; medical textile; meltblown; non-woven textile; reinforcement; textile scaffold; textile; textile implant
MeSH headings : Prostheses and Implants; Tensile Strength; Textiles
TL;DR: Investigation if a non-woven substrate can be reinforced by embroidery stitching towards strength increase brings out that reinforcement can increase the strength by up to 50% for a melt-blown mat and byUp to 100% for an electro-spun mat with an X reinforcement pattern, but after cyclic loading, the reinforcement yarn tends to degrade the ES mat in particular.
