Phylogenomics reveals the history of host use in mosquitoes

NATURE COMMUNICATIONS, 14(1).

By: J. Soghigian n, C. Sither n, S. Justi*, G. Morinaga*, B. Cassel n, C. Vitek*, T. Livdahl*, S. Xia* ...

TL;DR: An origin of mosquitoes in the early Triassic is supported, considerably older than previous estimates and that mosquito diversification and host-use patterns within major lineages appear to coincide in earth history both with major continental drift events and with the diversification of vertebrate classes.
