An open-source framework for synthetic post-dive Doppler ultrasound audio generation

PLOS ONE, 18(4).

By: D. Le*, A. Hoang n, A. Azarang n, R. Lance*, M. Natoli*, A. Gatrell*, S. Blogg, P. Dayton n ...

TL;DR: A method to generate synthetic post-dive data using DU signals collected in both precordium and subclavian vein with varying degrees of bubbling matching field-standard grading metrics is developed, allowing for researchers to tune the produced dataset for their desired purpose. [Review of ]. DIVING AND HYPERBARIC MEDICINE, 52(2), 136–148.

By: E. McCune n, D. Le*, P. Lindholm*, K. Nightingale, P. Dayton n & V. Papadopoulou n

author keywords: Bubbles; Cavitation; Decompression; Decompression research; Venous gas emboli
MeSH headings : Decompression Sickness / etiology; Diving; Echocardiography / adverse effects; Embolism, Air / etiology; Humans; Ultrasonography / adverse effects
TL;DR: What can be drawn from the current ultrasound and diving literature on the safety of bubble sonication is discussed and areas where more studies are needed are highlighted. (via Semantic Scholar)

2021 journal article

EFFECT OF ACOUSTIC PARAMETERS AND MICROBUBBLE CONCENTRATION ON THE LIKELIHOOD OF ENCAPSULATED MICROBUBBLE COALESCENCE

ULTRASOUND IN MEDICINE AND BIOLOGY, 47(10), 2980–2989.

By: D. Le n, V. Papadopoulou n & P. Dayton n

author keywords: Microbubble coalescence; Ultrasound contrast agent; Ultrasound; Contrast-enhanced ultrasound
MeSH headings : Acoustics; Contrast Media; Microbubbles; Pressure; Ultrasonography
TL;DR: It is suggested that the microbubble coalescence phenomenon can readily occur at acoustic parameters used in therapeutic ultrasound, generating bubbles much larger than those found in commercial contrast agents, although coalescence is unlikely to be significant in diagnostic contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging.
