Finding Trends in Software Research

IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON SOFTWARE ENGINEERING, 49(4), 1397–1410.

By: G. Mathew n, A. Agrawal n & T. Menzies n

author keywords: Software engineering; Conferences; Software; Analytical models; Data models; Predictive models; Testing; bibliometrics; topic modeling; text mining
TL;DR: While there is no overall gender bias in SE authorship, it is noted that women are under-represented in the top-most cited papers in the authors' field and a previously unreported dichotomy between software conferences and journals is shown. (via Semantic Scholar)

Cross-Language Code Search using Static and Dynamic Analyses

PROCEEDINGS OF THE 29TH ACM JOINT MEETING ON EUROPEAN SOFTWARE ENGINEERING CONFERENCE AND SYMPOSIUM ON THE FOUNDATIONS OF SOFTWARE ENGINEERING (ESEC/FSE '21), pp. 205–217.

By: G. Mathew n & K. Stolee n

author keywords: code-to-code search; cross-language code search; non-dominated sorting; static analysis; dynamic analysis
TL;DR: It is found that code search based on non-dominated ranking of static and dynamic similarity measures is more effective compared to single or weighted measures and COSAL has better precision and recall compared to state-of-the-art within-language and cross-language code-tocode search tools.
