Sexual reproduction in aflatoxin-producing Aspergillus nomius

Mycologia, 103(1), 174–183.

By: B. Horn*, G. Moore* & I. Carbone n

author keywords: Aflatoxin; ascospores; Aspergillus flavus; Aspergillus parasiticus; heterothallism; Petromyces
MeSH headings : Aflatoxins / biosynthesis; Aflatoxins / genetics; Aspergillus / genetics; Aspergillus / metabolism; Aspergillus / physiology; Aspergillus / ultrastructure; Crosses, Genetic; Genes, Mating Type, Fungal; Microscopy, Electron, Scanning; Spores, Fungal / genetics; Spores, Fungal / metabolism; Spores, Fungal / ultrastructure
TL;DR: Sexual reproduction was examined in the aflatoxin-producing fungus Aspergillus nomius, and crosses between sexually compatible strains resulted in the formation of multiple nonostiolate ascocarps within stromata, which places the teleomorph in genus Petromyces. (via Semantic Scholar)

Sexual reproduction in Aspergillus flavus

MYCOLOGIA, 101(3), 423–429.

By: B. Horn*, G. Moore* & I. Carbone n

author keywords: aflatoxin; Aspergillus alliaceus; Aspergillus parasiticus; heterothallism; Petromyces alliaceus; Petromyces flavus; Petromyces parasitucus; Trichocomaceae
MeSH headings : Aspergillus flavus / classification; Aspergillus flavus / cytology; Aspergillus flavus / physiology; Crosses, Genetic; Eurotiales / classification; Eurotiales / cytology; Eurotiales / physiology; Reproduction / physiology; Sex; Spores, Fungal / cytology; Spores, Fungal / physiology
TL;DR: Multiple, indehiscent ascocarps containing asci and ascospores formed within the pseudoparenchymatous matrix of stromata, which places the fungus in genus Petromyces. (via Semantic Scholar)
