TL;DR: It is proposed that the SCF paleoenvironment consisted largely of semi-deciduous forests ranging into savannas with gallery-forest components where the mesic inland Atlantic forests of Southern Brazil, northeastern Argentina and eastern Paraguay give way northwestward into the more xeric Paraguayan Gran Chaco.
