Magnetic Alignment of Microelements Containing Cultured Neuronal Networks for High-Throughput Screening
JOURNAL OF BIOMOLECULAR SCREENING, 20(9), 1091–1100.
author keywords: high-throughput screening; primary neurons; magnetic centering; microfabrication; finite element analysis; microraft arrays
MeSH headings : Animals; Cell Survival; Cells, Cultured; Drug Evaluation, Preclinical; High-Throughput Screening Assays / instrumentation; High-Throughput Screening Assays / methods; Magnetic Phenomena; Nerve Net / cytology; Neurons / drug effects; Neurons / physiology; Rats, Sprague-Dawley
TL;DR:
A magnet array plate is developed, compatible with HTS fluid-handling systems, to center microrafts within wells, finding a centering efficiency of 100%, compared with 4.35% using a flat magnet, and concluding that micRORafts could be centered after settling randomly within the well, overcoming friction.
