Creation of an optically tunable, solid tissue phantom for use in cancer detection

CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL NEUROPHOTONICS 2018, Vol. 10480.

By: M. Tucker*, C. Wallace*, S. Mantena*, N. Cornwell n, W. Ross*, R. Odion*, T. Vo-Dinh*, P. Codd*

author keywords: Phantom; Fluorophore; Cancer; Spectroscopy; Machine Learning
TL;DR: An optically tunable, solid tissue phantom was developed in order to aid in the verification and validation of non-destructive cancer detection technologies based on fluorescence spectroscopy and was shown to be tunable; thus, indicating that these phantoms could be used to tailor specific optical conditions that mimic cancerous and healthy tissues. Optimized Path Planning for Soft Tissue Resection via Laser Vaporization

CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL NEUROPHOTONICS 2018, Vol. 10480.

By: W. Ross*, N. Cornwell n, M. Tucker*, B. Mann* & P. Codd*

author keywords: laser ablation; neurosurgery; automation; robotic surgery; surgical planning; genetic algorithm; optimization
TL;DR: A novel approach to generating a cutting path for the volumetric resection of tissue using a computer-guided laser scalpel and the ability to control depth and smoothness of cut using genetic algorithms to optimize the ablation parameters and cutting path is presented. (via Semantic Scholar)
