A Simulated Annealing Genetic Algorithm for the Electrical Power Districting Problem

Bergey, P. K., Ragsdale, C. T., & Hoskote, M. (2003, June 6). Annals of Operations Research.

By: P. Bergey n, C. Ragsdale* & M. Hoskote*

author keywords: electricity deregulation; genetic algorithms; simulated annealing; multi-criteria decision making
topics (OpenAlex): Electric Power System Optimization; Metaheuristic Optimization Algorithms Research; ICT Impact and Policies; Vehicle Routing Optimization Methods; Optimal Power Flow Distribution
TL;DR: This research introduces and tests a new algorithm for solving the electrical power districting problem in the context of the Republic of Ghana and uses a random test problem generator to show that the mimetic algorithm, the Simulated Annealing Genetic Algorithm, outperforms a well-known Parallel SimulatedAnnealing heuristic on this new and interesting problem manifested by the deregulation of electricity markets.
