Adaptive damage retention mechanism enables healthier yeast population

JOURNAL OF THEORETICAL BIOLOGY, 473, 52–66.

By: Q. Ali n, R. Dainese* & M. Cvijovic*

author keywords: Yeast; Asymmetrical division; Damage retention; Dynamical modelling; Pedigree-tree model
MeSH headings : Adaptation, Physiological; Cell Division; Computer Simulation; Models, Biological; Saccharomyces cerevisiae / cytology; Saccharomyces cerevisiae / physiology; Stochastic Processes
TL;DR: The results suggest that a rapid decrease in the efficiency of damage retention, at the time when the mother cell is almost exhausted, produces fewer daughters with high levels of damaged proteins, suggesting that optimal reproduction success is a local minimum of the cost function. Non-conventional therapeutic technique to replace CRISPR bacteria from biofilm by inducible lysogen

Ali, Q. (2019, March 15). JOURNAL OF BIOLOGICAL DYNAMICS, Vol. 13, pp. 151–178.

By: Q. Ali n

author keywords: Bacteria; bacteriophage; biofilm; CRISPR/Cas system; lysogen
MeSH headings : Algorithms; Bacteria / genetics; Biofilms / growth & development; Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats / genetics; Lysogeny / genetics; Models, Biological
TL;DR: The goal of this work is to find a suitable strategy which can eradicate bacteria with a CRISPR system through the influx of finite amounts of distinct lysogens over fixed intervals. (via Semantic Scholar)
