Jamming Distance Dictates Colloidal Shear Thickening

PHYSICAL REVIEW LETTERS, 127(15).

By: S. Pradeep n, M. Nabizadeh*, A. Jacob n, S. Jamali* & L. Hsiao n

TL;DR: The results suggest that the force per contact is different for particles with different morphologies, and the available free volume for colloids of different roughness is related to the deficiency from the maximum number of nearest neighbors at jamming under shear. (via Semantic Scholar)

Water-stable zirconium-based metal-organic frameworks armed polyvinyl alcohol nanofibrous membrane with enhanced antibacterial therapy for wound healing

JOURNAL OF COLLOID AND INTERFACE SCIENCE, 603, 243–251.

By: J. Zhu*, W. Qiu*, C. Yao*, C. Wang*, D. Wu*, S. Pradeep n, J. Yu*, Z. Dai*

author keywords: Polyvinyl alcohol; UiO-66-NH2; Water-stable; Antibacterial wound dressing
MeSH headings : Animals; Anti-Bacterial Agents / pharmacology; Escherichia coli; Humans; Metal-Organic Frameworks; Nanofibers; Polyvinyl Alcohol; Staphylococcus aureus; Water; Wound Healing; Zirconium
TL;DR: Animal studies show that the LV@UiO-66-NH2@PVA will effectively offer a safe alternative solution for the patients to protect against bacterial infections, demonstrating the potential application of MOF-based NFMs as wound dressing agents. (via Semantic Scholar)

Contact criterion for suspensions of smooth and rough colloids

SOFT MATTER, 16(21), 4980–4989.

By: S. Pradeep n & L. Hsiao n

TL;DR: Sensitivity analyses show that a deviation of the search distance by 1% of the particle diameter results in z changing by up to 10%, with the error in contact number distribution being magnified in dense suspensions (φ > 0.50) due to an increased number of nearest neighbors in the first coordination shell.
