Membrane-localized expression, production and assembly of Vibrio parahaemolyticus T3SS2 provides evidence for transertion

Kaval, K. G., Chimalapati, S., Siegel, S. D., Garcia, N., Jaishankar, J., Dalia, A. B., & Orth, K. (2023, March 2). Nature Communications.

By: K. Kaval*, S. Chimalapati*, S. Siegel n, N. Garcia*, J. Jaishankar*, A. Dalia*, K. Orth*

MeSH headings : Vibrio parahaemolyticus; Membranes; Membrane Proteins; Bacterial Proteins; Bile Acids and Salts
topics (OpenAlex): Vibrio bacteria research studies; Bacterial Genetics and Biotechnology; Escherichia coli research studies
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that Vibrio parahaemolyticus uses transertion to assemble a transmembrane complex (type III secretion system) used to inject virulence factors into host cells, and it is hypothesize that the proposed transertions process may be used by other enteric bacteria for efficient assembly of membrane-bound molecular complexes in response to extracellular signals.
