TL;DR: The coherent aperture model incorporates considerable reported research, integrating five conceptually and mathematically independent processes: a damped Kuramoto network model, a pumped area field potential, the gating of nearly coincident spikes, the coherence of activity across cortical lamina, and 5) complex information formed through functions in macrocolumns.
