TL;DR: Cleavage of MARCKS by Calpain may have an important role in regulation of the PKC/MARCKS pathway regulating airway mucin secretion, as opposed to the original hypothesis, inactivating Calpain caused a decrease rather than an increase in secretion. (via Semantic Scholar)
