It is found that TAK1 is essential for osmotic stress-induced activation of JNK but is not an exclusive mediator of p38 activation, and TAO2 (thousand-and-one amino acid kinase 2) associates with Tak1 and can inhibit TAK 1-mediated activation of NF-κB but not of J NK.

The results demonstrate that reduced EGFR activity alone is insufficient to perturb locomotor and masking behaviors in mice and suggest that other uncontrolled genetic or environmental parameters confounded previous experiments linking EG FR activity to daily locomotor activity and provide a cautionary tale for genetically uncontrolled studies.
