Effects of pheromone loading, dispenser age, and trap height on pheromone trap catches of the Oriental fruit moth in apple orchards

PHYTOPARASITICA, 34(3), 252–260.

By: O. Kovanci*, C. Schal n, J. Walgenbach n & G. Kennedy n

author keywords: Grapholita molesta; (Z)-8-dodecenyl acetate; apple; red rubber septa; release rate; septa dose; trap placement
TL;DR: There was no apparent relationship between pheromone trap catch and septa age, with trap catch appearing to be primarily a function ofG. (via Semantic Scholar)

Testing for spatial clustering of amino acid replacements within protein tertiary structure

JOURNAL OF MOLECULAR EVOLUTION, 62(6), 682–692.

author keywords: protein tertiary structure; protein evolution; spatial clustering
MeSH headings : Amino Acid Substitution; Cluster Analysis; Evolution, Molecular; Protein Structure, Tertiary; Statistics, Nonparametric
TL;DR: Two simple and not very parametric hypothesis tests are introduced that help distinguish three possibilities of spatial clustering of amino acid replacements during evolution and these findings need to be reconciled with the common practice of basing evolutionary inferences on models that assume independent change among sites. Coherent fragments - The problem of mobility and genred information

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION, 23(2), 173–201.

By: J. Swarts n

Contributors: J. Swarts n

author keywords: genre; embeddedness; PDAs; medical writing; writing technologies
TL;DR: The author finds that context and the degree of mobility both influence student perception of this composition burden, and explores the nature of this compositions burden in a case study of veterinary students. (via Semantic Scholar)

Haptic augmentation of science instruction: Does touch matter?

SCIENCE EDUCATION, 90(1), 111–123.

By: M. Jones n, J. Minogue*, T. Tretter*, A. Negishi* & R. Taylor*

TL;DR: Results showed that the addition of haptic feedback from the haptic-gaming joystick and the PHANToM provided a more immersive learning environment that not only made the instruction more engaging but may also influence the way in which the students construct their understandings about abstract science concepts.
