Pest management and pesticide impacts

International Journal of Tropical Insect Science, 5(03), 141–149.

TL;DR: Although pesticides provide benefits in the battle to control pests that destroy more than a third of all food, the use of pesticides also results in significant costs to public health and the environment. (via Semantic Scholar)

Microsite of the green rice leafhopper, Nephotettix cincticeps (Homoptera: Cicadellidae), on rice: Plant nitrogen and leafhopper density

Population Ecology, 26(2), 313–329.

By: D. Andow*

TL;DR: It is shown how changes in nitrogen fertilizer and GRL density affect the microsite and dispersion of the GRL on rice, and a hypothesis for why these effects occur is developed, and data is presented suggesting that the density dependent population regulation mcchanism of theGRL may be related to decreased host plant quality at higher GRL densities.
