2019 journal article

Forecasting failure locations in 2-dimensional disordered lattices

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 116(34), 16742–16749.

author keywords: failure; lattices; networks; centrality
TL;DR: It is shown that a simple test that consists of comparing the importance of a beam with respect to the other beams in a lattice permits a successful forecast of the locations of failures, and that one can assess possible failure locations of a structure without needing to study its detailed energetic states. Direct observation of confinement-induced diffusophoresis

Nanotechnology, 7.

By: S. Movahed, Z. Azad, S. Dangi & R. Riehn*

author keywords: nanofluidics; DNA; diffusophoresis
MeSH headings : DNA / chemistry; Diffusion; Ions / chemistry; Macromolecular Substances / chemistry; Microfluidics / methods; Nanotechnology / methods; Osmolar Concentration
TL;DR: It is shown that long-range ionic strength gradients intrinsic to all nanofluidic devices, even at equilibrium, also drive a drift of macromolecules, which is the dominant cause of the drift diffusophoresis. (via Semantic Scholar)

Toward Accurate Hydrogen Bonds by Scalable Quantum Monte Carlo

JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL THEORY AND COMPUTATION, 15(6), 3552–3557.

TL;DR: This work clearly illustrates the varying accuracy of the present-day SD FNDMC at the 0.1 kcal/mol scale for a particular set of systems but also points out promising routes toward alleviation of these shortcomings, still within the single-reference framework. (via Semantic Scholar)
