Mutations in Escherichia coli altering an apurinic endonuclease, endonuclease II, and exonuclease III, and their effect on in vivo sensitivity to methylmethanesulfonate

Biochemistry, 16(25), 5625–5631.

By: D. Kirtikar, G. Cathcart, J. White*, I. Ukstins & D. Goldthwait

MeSH headings : Deoxyribonucleases / genetics; Deoxyribonucleases / metabolism; Endonucleases / genetics; Endonucleases / metabolism; Escherichia coli / enzymology; Escherichia coli / genetics; Exonucleases / genetics; Exonucleases / metabolism; Mesylates / pharmacology; Methyl Methanesulfonate / pharmacology; Mutation; Species Specificity; Substrate Specificity
TL;DR: All of the mutants which were sensitive to methylmethanesulfonate in vivo lacked exonuclease III, but not all mutants lacking exonUClease III were MMS sensitive. (via Semantic Scholar)

UNIQUE DNA ASSOCIATED WITH MITOCHONDRIA IN S-TYPE CYTOPLASM OF MALE-STERILZE MAIZE

PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 74(7), 2904–2908.

By: D. Pring*, C. Levings n, W. Hu n & D. Timothy n

TL;DR: Mitochondrial DNAs were prepared from maize lines with normal cytoplasm and with the T, C, S, and EP sources of male-sterile cytoplasms and showed the presence of two faster migrating DNAs of molecular weight 3.42 to 3.48 x 10(6) and 4.01 to 4.10 x10(6). (via Semantic Scholar)
