Event: at Singapore

TL;DR: Some work that has been done over the recent years on constructing highly accurate nonlocal ABC''s for calculation of compressible external flows is reviewed, based on implementation of the generalized potentials and pseudodifferential boundary projection operators analogous to those proposed first by Calderon. Numerical solution of problems on unbounded domains. A review

Applied Numerical Mathematics, 27(4), 465–532.

By: S. Tsynkov*

author keywords: infinite-domain problems; artificial boundary conditions; pseudodifferential equations; difference potentials method; auxiliary problem; boundary equations with projections
TL;DR: An extensive survey and comparative assessment of different existing methods for constructing the ABCs are presented and a new ABCs technique proposed in recent work is described, which allows one to obtain highly accurate ABCs in the form of certain (nonlocal) boundary operator equations. Reply to: Models for the in-host dynamics of malaria revisited: errors in some basic models lead to large overestimates of growth rates

PARASITOLOGY, 117(5), 409–410.

TL;DR: In the accompanying manuscript Saul (1998) points out that a model of within-host malaria population dynamics (Anderson, May & Gupta, 1989) can exhibit unrealistically large growth rates, but this error can be avoided by replacing the parameter r, which is the number of merozoites produced by each parasite at schizogony, with the value ln (r)+1.
