“Alright, what do we need?”: A study of young coders’ collaborative dialogue

International Journal of Child-Computer Interaction, 17, 61–71.

TL;DR: The results show that for some student pairs, making suggestions in the dialogue is a natural mechanism for swapping control, whereas for other students, the transition from “driver” to “navigator” requires substantial scaffolding. (via Semantic Scholar)

User affect and no-match dialogue scenarios: An analysis of facial expression

Proceedings of the 4th Workshop on Multimodal Analyses Enabling Artificial Agents in Human-Machine Interaction, MA3HMI 2018 - In conjunction with ICMI 2018, 6–14.

author keywords: Dialogue agents; facial expression; no-match dialogue policy
TL;DR: This work investigates how users' facial expressions exhibited in response to the agent's no-match utterances predict the users' opinion of the agent after the interaction has completed, and indicates that models incorporating users’ facial expressions following no- match utterances are highly predictive of user opinion and significantly outperform baseline models.
