PHOTODEGRADATION OF TCDD IN SOIL CONTAINING ORGANIC-SOLVENTS

ENVIRONMENTAL GEOCHEMISTRY AND HEALTH, 16(3-4), 235–240.

By: Y. Zhong n, M. Overcash n & A. Mcpeters n

TL;DR: Under Oriel lamp exposure, the convective transport of TCDD, which depends on operating temperature, was the limiting factor in the cleanup process and the product differences between Oriel exposure tests and sunlight exposure tests probably result from the difference of UV-intensities. METABOLISM IN HYPERTHERMOPHILIC MICROORGANISMS

[Review of ]. ANTONIE VAN LEEUWENHOEK INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF GENERAL AND MOLECULAR MICROBIOLOGY, 66(1-3), 247–270.

By: R. Kelly n & M. Adams*

author keywords: ARCHAEA; HYPERTHERMOPHILES; PROTEOLYTIC; SACCHAROLYTIC; SULFUR
MeSH headings : Anaerobiosis; Archaea / metabolism; Bacteria, Anaerobic / metabolism; Carbohydrate Metabolism; Carbon Dioxide / metabolism; Electron Transport; Energy Metabolism; Hot Temperature; Oxidoreductases / metabolism; Peptides / metabolism; Sulfur / metabolism
TL;DR: Two So-reducing enzymes termed sulfhydrogenase and sulfide dehydrogenase have been purified from the cytoplasm of a hyperthermophile that is able to grow either with or without So, and a scheme for electron flow during the oxidation of carbohydrates and peptides and the reduction of So has been proposed.
