Application of multidimensional scaling to ratings of foods for obese and normal weight individuals

Physiology & Behavior, 21(3), 417–422.

By: S. Schiffman*, G. Musante* & J. Conger*

MeSH headings : Adolescent; Adult; Female; Food Preferences; Humans; Male; Obesity / psychology; Smell; Taste
TL;DR: Obese subjects were significantly better at identifying the blended foods when compared to normal weight subjects and the weights indicated that the obese subjects found the first dimension, which was related to the hedonic and flavorous aspects of the stimuli, relatively more important than normal weight individuals. Reduced olfactory discrimination in patients on chronic hemodialysis

Physiology & Behavior, 21(2), 239–242.

By: S. Schiffman*, M. Nash* & C. Dackis*

MeSH headings : Adult; Discrimination Learning / physiology; Female; Humans; Kidney Failure, Chronic / physiopathology; Kidney Failure, Chronic / psychology; Male; Odorants; Renal Dialysis / psychology; Smell / physiology; Taste / physiology
TL;DR: The median hedonic ratings for the two groups, renals and controls, revealed that renal patients rated thirteen of the fourteen odors more unpleasant than the controls, indicating that the renal patients had sharply reduced ability to judge qualitative odor differences between food flavors. Using Finite-State Models in Instrumentation Software

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation, IECI-25(2), 90–101.

By: C. Barnes*, J. Boddie, J. Irwin*, G. Kane*, J. Lowry*, H. Nagle*, M. Willcutt*

TL;DR: This paper describes the use of finite-state models for developing instrumentation software used in a cotton gin efficiency monitoring system and example dataprocessing results are demonstrated. (via Semantic Scholar)

Cotton Gin Operational Efficiency Measurement Via a Microprocessor Controlled Data Acquisition Unit

Transactions of the ASAE, 21(4), 0623–0627.

By: M. Willcutt, J. Irwin & H. Nagle*

TL;DR: A microcomputer-based data acquisition system used for monitoring analog and digital sensors in an operating cotton gin is described and sample results for a medium capacity cotton gin are demonstrated. (via Semantic Scholar)
