1997 journal article

Pollination-induced ethylene in carnation - Role of stylar ethylene in corolla senescence

PLANT PHYSIOLOGY, 115(1), 205–212.

TL;DR: In carnation, hibition of ethylene action in the pollinated style by diazocyclopentadiene treatment prevented both pollination-induced corolla senescence and ethylene production from the ovaries and petals. (via Semantic Scholar)

Transcriptional regulation of senescence-related genes in carnation flowers

In C. C. A. K. Kanellis, H. Kende, & D. Grierson (Eds.), Biology and biotechnology of the plant hormone ethylene.

By: J. Maxson* & W. Woodson*

Ed(s): C. A. K. Kanellis, . H. Kende & D. Grierson

TL;DR: The senescence of flower petals in several plant species is associated with a dramatic increase in the production of ethylene, and four different cDNAs encoding DNA binding proteins capable of interacting with the GCC box were cloned (EREBP-1 to 4); the DNA binding domain of the EREBPs does not share homology with other knownDNA binding proteins.
