Using the optimized extraction method, α-hydroxycarboxylate type siderophores were detected in soil for the first time and concentrations reached 461 pmol g–1, suggesting a yet unrecognized importance of α- Hydroxamate desferrioxamine B and rhizoferrin for biological interactions and biogeochemical processes in soil.
