Evaluation of tobacco foliar fungicides against target spot in North Carolina, 2024
Plant Health Progress.
Target spot, caused by the fungal pathogen Rhizoctonia solani, is among the most devastating diseases of flue-cured tobacco in North Carolina. Symptoms include brown circular lesions with concentric rings, often surrounded by yellowed tissue. As the lesions expand, they will thin and break resulting in a hole where the lesion is. This report evaluates the efficacy of fungicide programs on target spot in tobacco. The trial was conducted in 2024 in a research station field in Rocky Mount, NC. Results from these trials will help advise tobacco growers in effective fungicide programs for this disease.
