Modeling restorative potential of urban environments by coupling viewscape analysis of lidar data with experiments in immersive virtual environments

• We propose an approach for modeling experiential qualities of urban landscape. • We use lidar data to generate detailed model of landscape structure and patterns. • We combine GIS analysis of viewscapes with survey of immersive virtual environment. • We identify spatial metrics that predict urban landscape's restorative potential (RP). • We develop a predictive map of RP that can support decision-making and urban design.
