Cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, collards, Brussels sprouts, kohl rabi, and most radish varieties were resistant, with cabbage varieties having the highest degree of resistance. Mustard, turnip, kale, rutabaga, Chinese cabbage, and 1 radish were susceptible. Chinese cabbage and mustard varieties had the highest degree or susceptibility. Resistance seemed to be of the preference or non-preference type.}, number={2}, journal={JOURNAL OF ECONOMIC ENTOMOLOGY}, author={SULLIVAN, MJ and BRETT, CH}, year={1974}, pages={262–264} } @article{sullivan_brett_1971, title={RESISTANCE OF CUCURBIT VARIETIES TO SPOTTED CUCUMBER BEETLE - COLEOPTERA-CHRYSOMELIDAE IN COASTAL PLAIN OF NORTH-CAROLINA}, volume={64}, ISSN={["0022-0493"]}, DOI={10.1093/jee/64.5.1205}, abstractNote={Fifty-three varieties within the plant family Cucurbitaceae were evaluated for plant resistance to Diabrotica undecimpunctata howardi Barber. Varieties were tested for foliage resistance and seedling resistance. Varieties were placed in 4 groups, based on common crop names, for statistical analysis: (1) cucumbers, (2) summer squash, (3) winter squash, and (4) pumpkins, muskmelons, and watermelons, varieties were scored on the amount of damage sustained, were given a damage index rating, and were listed as resistant, intermediate, or susceptible. Pumpkins, muskmelons, and watermelons were more susceptible than the other groups. However, greater differences occurred among varieties within a group than occurred between groups in both the seedling and foliage stages. Also it was found that resistance in one stage of plant growth did not preclude varietal resistance in another stage.}, number={5}, journal={JOURNAL OF ECONOMIC ENTOMOLOGY}, author={SULLIVAN, MJ and BRETT, CH}, year={1971}, pages={1205-&} }
