Isolation and partial characterization of CD36 from skim milk

JOURNAL OF DAIRY SCIENCE, 85(8), 1903–1908.

By: C. Wilcox n, V. Janolino n & H. Swaisgood n

author keywords: CD36; milk fat globule membrane; skim milk; sulfhydryl oxidase
MeSH headings : Amino Acid Sequence; Animals; Blotting, Western; CD36 Antigens; Cattle; Centrifugation; Chromatography, Gel; Electrophoresis, Polyacrylamide Gel; Glycolipids / analysis; Glycoproteins / analysis; Glycosylation; Lipid Droplets; Membrane Glycoproteins / chemistry; Membrane Glycoproteins / isolation & purification; Milk / chemistry; Molecular Sequence Data; Molecular Weight; Organic Anion Transporters / chemistry; Organic Anion Transporters / isolation & purification; Ultrafiltration
TL;DR: CD36, a common milk fat globule membrane glycoprotein, was isolated from skim milk by methods similar to those previously utilized for the isolation of sulfhydryl oxidase, giving similar purity as observed by electrophoresis and suggested tissue-specific glycosylation. (via Semantic Scholar)

Trypsin imobilization on derivatized cellulose beads by biospecific avidin-biotin interaction and characterization of the immobilized activity

Journal of Food Biochemistry, 26(2), 119–129.

By: V. Janolino n & H. Swaisgood n

TL;DR: It is indicated that cellulose beads can be biotinylated for use as bioselective support for trypsin bioreactors and avidin-biotin interaction. (via Semantic Scholar)

CONFIRMATION OF A BLOCKED AMINO TERMINUS OF SULFHYDRYL OXIDASE

JOURNAL OF DAIRY SCIENCE, 73(9), 2287–2291.

By: V. Janolino n, S. Morrisonrowe n & H. Swaisgood n

MeSH headings : Amino Acid Sequence; Animals; Cattle; Electrophoresis, Polyacrylamide Gel; Milk / enzymology; Oxidoreductases / chemistry; Oxidoreductases / isolation & purification; Polyvinyls
TL;DR: The isolation of sulfhydryl oxidase from bovine milk in a suitably pure form for sequencing was carried out by transient covalent affinity chromatography of diafiltered whey using cysteinylsuccinamidopropyl-glass as matrix and protein recovery yielded negative results when subjected to sequence analysis indicating that the N-terminus of sulfHydryl oxidation is blocked. JOURNAL OF DAIRY SCIENCE, 73(2), 308–313.

By: V. Janolino n & H. Swaisgood n

TL;DR: Presence of IgG in these sulfhydryl oxidase preparations suggests an interaction between IgG and either skim milk membrane vesicles or sulfhydries oxidase. (via Semantic Scholar)
