Universal Shapes Formed by Two Interacting Cracks

TL;DR: The origins of the widely observed "en passant" crack pattern are investigated, which forms through interactions between two approaching cracks that have a universal square root shape and are understood by using a simple geometric model of the crack-crack interaction. (via Semantic Scholar)
