EXPLORING VARIATION IN FITNESS SURFACES OVER TIME OR SPACE

EVOLUTION, 66(4), 1126–1137.

By: B. Calsbeek n

author keywords: Natural selection; projection pursuit regression; tensor decomposition
MeSH headings : Biological Evolution; Genetic Fitness; Models, Genetic; Phenotype; Principal Component Analysis; Selection, Genetic; Statistics, Nonparametric; Time Factors
TL;DR: Using a Tucker3 tensor decomposition, which is essentially a higher order principal components analysis, it is shown how major features of fitness surfaces can be compared statistically and developed three statistical tests that identify differences in the shape of nonparametric fitness surfaces. Comparing the genetic architecture and potential response to selection of invasive and native populations of reed canary grass

EVOLUTIONARY APPLICATIONS, 4(6), 726–735.

author keywords: G matrix; invasive species; quantitative genetics; reed canary grass; selection skewers
TL;DR: It is found that differences in the evolutionary potential of Phalaris populations are driven by differences in latitude, suggesting that selection also shapes the evolutionary trajectory of invasive populations. (via Semantic Scholar)
