Constitutive expression of a celery mannitol dehydrogenase in tobacco enhances resistance to the mannitol-secreting fungal pathogen Alternaria alternata

PLANT JOURNAL, 32(1), 41–49.

By: D. Jennings*, M. Daub n, D. Pharr* & J. Williamson*

author keywords: antioxidant; disease resistance; hydroxyl radical; mannitol; reactive oxygen
MeSH headings : Alternaria / growth & development; Alternaria / metabolism; Apium / enzymology; Apium / genetics; Ascomycota / growth & development; Ascomycota / metabolism; DNA, Complementary / chemistry; DNA, Complementary / genetics; Gene Expression Regulation, Enzymologic; Gene Expression Regulation, Plant; Genes, Plant / genetics; Immunity, Innate / genetics; Mannitol / metabolism; Mannitol Dehydrogenases / genetics; Mannitol Dehydrogenases / metabolism; Plant Diseases / genetics; Plant Diseases / microbiology; Plants, Genetically Modified; Reactive Oxygen Species; Tobacco / enzymology; Tobacco / genetics
TL;DR: Constitutive expression of the MTD transgene was found to confer significantly enhanced resistance to A. alternata, but not to the non-mannitol-secreting fungal pathogen Cercospora nicotianae, consistent with the hypothesis that MTD plays a role in resistance to mannitol-Secretingfungal plant pathogens. SPRUCE BUDWORM (LEPIDOPTERA, TORTRICIDAE) EGG MASS DIMENSIONS AND CORRESPONDING EGG COMPLEMENT ON BLACK SPRUCE

ENVIRONMENTAL ENTOMOLOGY, 19(2), 257–259.

By: D. Robison*, L. Abrahamson*, E. White*, D. Jennings* & M. Czapowskyj*

TL;DR: Comparison of the results from the current study and from previously published studies suggest that the relationship between egg mass dimensions and number of eggs per egg mass is relatively constant over a broad range of conditions. (via Semantic Scholar)
