PLANT CELL, 14(12), 3225–3236.

By: E. Egelkrout n, L. Mariconti*, S. Settlage n, R. Cella*, D. Robertson n & L. Hanley-Bowdoin n

MeSH headings : Base Sequence; Binding Sites / genetics; Cell Cycle Proteins; DNA-Binding Proteins; E2F Transcription Factors; E2F1 Transcription Factor; Geminiviridae / genetics; Geminiviridae / physiology; Gene Expression Regulation, Developmental; Gene Expression Regulation, Plant; Molecular Sequence Data; Mutation; Plant Leaves / genetics; Plant Leaves / growth & development; Plant Leaves / virology; Plants, Genetically Modified; Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen / genetics; Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen / metabolism; Promoter Regions, Genetic / genetics; Protein Binding; Response Elements / genetics; Tobacco / genetics; Tobacco / growth & development; Tobacco / virology; Transcription Factors / genetics; Transcription Factors / metabolism
TL;DR: Examination of the distal element (E2F1) and how it interacts with the E2F2 site to regulate the PCNA promoter demonstrates that both E2f elements contribute to the repression of thePCNA promoter in mature leaves, whereas the E 2F1 site counters the repression activity of the E1F2 element in young leaves. Silencing of a meristematic gene using geminivirus-derived vectors

PLANT JOURNAL, 27(4), 357–366.

By: C. Peele, C. Jordan, N. Muangsan, M. Turnage, E. Egelkrout n, P. Eagle*, L. Hanley-Bowdoin n, D. Robertson

author keywords: Geminiviruses; homology-dependent gene silencing; meristems; functional genomics; plant DNA viruses; magnesium chelatase; proliferating cell nuclear antigen
MeSH headings : Base Sequence; DNA Primers; DNA, Viral / metabolism; Geminiviridae / genetics; Gene Silencing; Genes, Essential; Genetic Vectors; In Situ Hybridization; Meristem / genetics; Tobacco / genetics; Tobacco / virology
TL;DR: The results demonstrate that geminivirus-derived vectors can be used to study genes involved in meristem function in intact plants and show that endogenous gene silencing can be separated from viral infection. (via Semantic Scholar)
