TL;DR: Reaction films formed on high purity Fe, Cr, Fe oxide, and Cr oxide surfaces at elevated temperatures reveal trace levels of interfacial slippage, potentially in conjunction with viscoelastic effects, for reaction films characterized by very low macroscopic friction coefficients.
