Phylogenetic relationships of Ceratitis fruit flies inferred from nuclear CAD and tango/ARNT gene fragments: Testing monophyly of the subgenera Ceratitis (Ceratitis) and C. (Pterandrus)

MOLECULAR PHYLOGENETICS AND EVOLUTION, 53(2), 412–424.

By: N. Barr n & B. Wiegmann n

author keywords: tango; ARNT; CAD; Systematics; Ceratitis; PAS
MeSH headings : Amino Acid Sequence; Animals; Bayes Theorem; Cell Nucleus / genetics; Evolution, Molecular; Genes, Insect; Genetic Variation; Molecular Sequence Data; Phylogeny; Sequence Alignment; Sequence Analysis, DNA; Tephritidae / classification; Tephritidae / genetics
TL;DR: Results indicate that the CAD and tango genes provide useful phylogenetic signal within the taxa and are compatible with the previously studied genes. (via Semantic Scholar)

2005 journal article

Molecular systematics of nuclear gene period in genus Anastrepha (Tephritidae)

ANNALS OF THE ENTOMOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA, 98(2), 173–180.

By: N. Barr n, L. Cui* & B. McPheron*

author keywords: Anastrepha; Tephritidae; period; C3C5 region; CCID
TL;DR: Important relationships recovered in the period gene tree include a paraphyletic placement of Anastrepha with respect to Toxotrypana, support for the separation of Anastsrepha species groups into two evolutionary sections (with the exception of the pseudoparallela species group), and evidence that several species groups are not monophyletic.
